| Spraydeck
and Cockpit Covers Spraycovers / Tarpaulins are not included as standard with the kayak. Spraycover The KLEPPER spraycovers are all fixed with velcro fasteners. A continual strip of velcro is sewn directly into the spray cover, and a continual velcro strip is glued to the cockpit coaming. The spraycover is made of black waterproof canvas. A special feature of the KLEPPER spraycover: some of the models have two or more bands on the side. When the weather is nice, you can partially open the spray cover, roll it on one side and fix it to the coaming with the bands. If the weather changes, unclip the spraycover and lock it back in place with the velcro. Skirts (the part that goes around your waist) are integrated with the spraydeck cover - IE is not separate. At the front of the spraydeck is a mast neck - the spraycovers can be used when sailing, or the mast neck can be closed off when not using a mast. When paddling off-shore, a spraydeck cover is essential to reduce the chances of swamping the boat when encountering a big wave. A spraydeck cover is also useful to have when paddling in calm inland waters, as water still drips inside the boat from the paddles - having less water inside makes the drying out process quicker when dis-assembling the boat at the end of the day. Tarpaulin (cockpit cover) For long-term storage outside or in a boathouse of your assembled kayak, we recommend a cockpit cover to keep the rain, dirt, dust and annoying rodents, spiders, etc from getting inside your boat. Very useful to have when camping overnight or when car-topping an assembled kayak. Velcro for Coaming / Breakwater To use the covers, the kayak needs a continous velcro strip on the outside of the breakwater which is not fitted as standard. This external velcro is not included with spraydeck and cockpit covers - the covers themselves do come ready fitted with the counterpart internal velcro.
