Hull
types
(Hulls = skin)
The Series
- Smartline, Classic and Expedition/ Quattro
KLEPPER offers
3 different types of hulls, each type specific to the model series.
Each model series also has specific features as standard such as
paddle holders, rear hatch and black frame, or certain optional extras
can
be added. Also linked to the series is a range of available deck
colours.
The skin is made of two parts: deck (top part in canvas) and the
hull (bottom part in PVC, TPU or CSM). All current KLEPPER
kayaks are prefixed with the name AERIUS which indicates integrated
air sponsons inside the hull - all the earlier kayak models produced
by Klepper without the Aerius name did not have sponsons. The deck
used on all the series use the same waterproof Egyptian long-staple,
self-sealing cotton/hemp. This allows the deck to "breathe".
The natural air circulation eliminates excessive condensation and
provides natural waterproof insulation.
All double seater kayaks (545) have extra solo paddler fittings,
so that you may use the kayak as a large single seater with the 'solo'
seat set the balanced position. Solo paddler spraydeck covers are
available as optional extra.
Smartline Series
Smartline KLEPPER kayaks are made with white-grey PVC hulls.
Apart from the standard light coloured Perimeter safety line, the
deck is plain. Deck colours - Red or Blue
Classic Series
Classic KLEPPER kayaks are made with grey CSM (of which Hypalon is
a type). The CSM hull is made with three layers: a layer of CSM,
a layer of cloth and a layer of CSM. We recommend this type of hull
for lakes and rivers. Apart from the standard black coloured Perimeter
safety line, the deck is plain. Deck colours - Red or Blue
Scout, Expedition and Quattro Series
Expedition and Quattro KLEPPER kayaks always have a black hull, made
of very robust TPU. The Quattro is the only model with 4 air sponsons
which extends safety levels when using the kayak for expeditions
with a very heavy payload in the open sea.
The new TPU hull is extremely robust, hence there is only one keelstrip
needed to protect the stitching. Nevertheless we put keelstrips of
25 cms on all our TPU models to render them even more robust.
Additional standard features:- rear deck bungy, paddle pockets or
holders, rear hatch, and the option to have the frame in black. Optional
extra
- front hatch. Deck colours - all colours available.
