Klepper T9 / 59, Blue - Ref 118GC A very well looked after and maintained non-sponson version Klepper model kayak - one of the best that we have seen. The skin's hull has been regulary maintained over the years with emulsion. We had no issues in assembling this kayak quickly - the hull is still very pliable. The T9 represented an evolutionary improvement on the precessor T6 / 48. Klepper introduced the T9 model in 1959 and produced this boat in parallel with the Aerius I 450 (1951-2010) till about late 70's- 80's. One interesting aspect is that the T9 was never intended to replace the Aerius. Although the Aerius I 450 has several benefits particulary its sponsons, the Klepper T9 appealed to a different group of buyers - being slightly lighter, faster, with simpler construction, lower purchase price, no inflatable bladders to maintain (sponsons), and it had traditional handling familiar to long-time folding kayak owners. This kayak was purchased new in 1973 and has been in use till about 6 years ago. In addition to a well looked after kayak skin, the frame in also in an excellent immaculate condition. This particular kayak has additional paddle holders on its front deck - an non standard feature. Complete with a full rudder set, spraydeck, waist skirt, wooden paddle, 3 x packing bags, and most important of all, a pair of immaculate original bouyancy bags designed to fit inside the extreme ends of the boat. This boat did not come with keel strips, so the owner has attempted to compensate this and other critical areas with black duct tape. Apart from that, there are no signs of damage to the hull and decks.
