Longhaul Mk2 Classic 'Schooner' - with twin BSD Batwing Sail Rigs and a BSD BOSS Outrigger - Ref 117MG For many years, Mark Echart, founder of Long Haul folding kayaks (USA) has collaborated with Balough Sail Designs (USA) to deliver one of the finest sailing folding kayak packages and this 'Schooner' is one such creation. This whole package that you see here was entirely done at the LH factory with no DIY needed by the owner of this comprehensive sailing package. A well looked after and maintained tandem folding sailing kayak complete with upwind twin BSD Batwing sail rigs, a BSD BOSS outrigger system, and extra accessories, offering a wide range of different set-ups:- - as a single seater kayak, with or without solo paddler spray deck, and with or without the rudder set-up - as a tandem kayak, with or without tandem spraydeck, and with or without the rudderset-up - as a single seater sailing kayak, using either of the two different sized sail rigs - as a tandem sailing kayak This Longhaul Mk2 Classic folding kayak itself includes:- - fore and aft loading hatches for easy access to under deck bow & stern storage areas - bow to stern decklines - holders to secure two paddles on the decks - complete rudder set (solo & tandem set-ups) - front foot brace - two different #3 cross ribs, one without and one with integrated rudder pedals (for the rear tandem paddler) - two different #4 cross ribs, one without and one with integrated rudder pedals (for the solo paddler) - 2 comfort seats, one with a booster pad - solo & tandem version spraydecks, complete with 2 waist skirts. Only the tandem spraydeck has the required sealable holes (x2) to accomodate the sailing masts - three pack bags - Canvas longeron packing bag with several long pockets - fits inside longeron bag, protecting the long frame pieces - a heavy duty canvas kayak cover - for long and short term assembled boat storage Longhaul (USA) is possibly the only folding kayak brand that has rudder pedals that is integrated with cross ribs, unlike other brands (EG Klepper) which have rudder pedals as a separate unit that is assembled onto the keel board itself. This kayak package includes both versions of cross ribs (for tandem and solo set-ups). The 'Schooner' sailing set-up from Balogh (BSD) includes:- - BSD 24sq ft Sport Batwing Expedition, with one zippy reef. Sizes - 24sq ft, 20sq ft - BSD 36sq ft Sport Batwing Expedition, with two zippy reefs. Sizes - 36sq ft, 32sq ft, 28sq ft - BSD BOSS Outrigger with a large Leeboard / Daggerboard and with a spare inflatable Ama float Extra sailing accessories made by Longhaul - Inflatable keel sponson for sailing. Changes to shape of the kayak's keel - from flat to half round - Hand tiller - Line tiller - Front mount hike out seat with sliding cushion - Set of two hike out seats, and one hike out harness with two quick release anchor straps (for port and starboard sides) - Deck board (bridge with cleats) - Mast board (bridge with one cleat) Other extra accessories - Folding kayak cart - Large bow and stern conical inflatable bouyancy bags - Extra long drybag to hold the mast poles and outrigger poles, for easier packing of the sail rig set The kayak's skin is in a very good condition with only a few minor scratches. The kayak frame pieces are in a very good condition. This kayak can easily be configured to be a single or as a tandem seater and includes spray decks for both configurations. The tandem spray deck has been specially modified to accommodate the twin BSD masts. The cockpit coaming washboard has mounts to hold the BSD outrigger cross tube. More about Balough (USA) sail rigs. The Batwing sail has a zippy reef system so sail sizes can be easily reduced as needed... The BOSS (Balogh Outrigger Stabilization System) uses inflatable floats or amas and comes included with a large single leeboard. The mounting system used to hold the outrigger to the kayak was specially designed and made by Balogh to fit on Longhauls. Pair of #3 and #4 Cross ribs - one with and one without integrated rudder pedals. Heel rest flap is attached to the #4 cross rib (for tandem rudder set-up). Frame parts are all well labelled for easy identification. The unique Long Haul integrated rudder pedal cross rib design includes a handy top cross piece "grab bar" which aids entry and exit into and out of the kayak. It is easy to switch these #3 & #4 cross ribs around to change between single and tandem set-ups when the kayak is already fully assemnbled (sponsons is deflated).

Set up as single seater with the 24sq foot Batwing sail rig, with the seat at the rear. For single handed sailing - the seat can also be in the centre, with the deck board bridge moved forward. For rear position sailing, Deck Hike Out seats, rear Tiller, and Hike-Out harness can also be used.
With the 32sq ft Batwing and BOSS outrigger system. Comfort hike-out seat can be seen on top of the side rear deck. Hike-out hardness (lying on top of the rear deck) is used with the pair of Comfort Hike-out seats.
